Terms of service

These terms are an agreement between you and Try Mermaid LLC ("we", "us") and apply when you use TryMermaid at trymermaid.app (the "service"). By using the service you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use TryMermaid.

1. The service

TryMermaid is an online editor for creating, exporting, sharing and saving Mermaid diagrams. It offers a Free plan and a paid Pro plan, described on the pricing page. Paid subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. Payments are non-refundable, as set out in our refund policy. We will give notice before any price change that affects your subscription.

2. Accounts

You don't need an account to use the editor. If you create one, you must give an email address you control, keep your password secure, and be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required where you live). You are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us promptly at [email protected] if you think it has been accessed without your permission.

3. Your content

You own the diagrams and other content you create with TryMermaid. You give us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to store, process, display and transmit your content only as needed to operate the service, for example to save your diagrams, render previews and show public diagrams to people you share them with. This license ends when you delete the content, except for copies kept for a limited time in backups or where required by law.

You are responsible for your content and confirm you have the rights to use it. Don't put information in a share link or public diagram that you don't want others to see.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Break the law or infringe anyone's rights, including intellectual property rights.
  • Upload or share malware, phishing content or content designed to exploit other users.
  • Try to access other users' accounts or diagrams without permission, or probe, scan or test the service's security without our written consent.
  • Overload, disrupt or scrape the service in a way that harms its operation, or get around rate limits.
  • Use the service to harass, abuse or harm others.

5. Open-source software

TryMermaid is built on open-source software, including Mermaid.js and Mermaid Live Editor, which are licensed under the MIT license. Those licenses govern your use of those components. TryMermaid is independent and not affiliated with or endorsed by the Mermaid project or Mermaid Chart.

6. Changes and availability

We may change, suspend or stop any part of the service. We work to keep TryMermaid available and your saved diagrams safe, but we don't guarantee the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, so keep your own copies of important diagrams (for example, by exporting them).

7. Disclaimer

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Try Mermaid LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or revenue, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US$50.

9. Termination

You can stop using TryMermaid at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put the service or other users at risk. Sections 3 (license limits), 7, 8 and 11 continue to apply after termination.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will change the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, let account holders know in advance. If you keep using the service after changes take effect, you accept the updated terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Try Mermaid LLC is organized, without regard to its conflict of law rules, except where the law of the place you live requires otherwise.
